It began sometime in the late 90s. A bunch of high school kids with some experience in Advanced Dungeons & Dragons met a person with much greater RPG experience and created a group to play AD&D. Not a terribly original story, but it was how the Dawn Campaign Setting was born.

The first Dawn campaign lasted many years. It made the change from 2nd to 3rd Edition D&D and then to 3.5. At that point the main campaign ended (with characters at about 50 level—yes, we love epic), and other stories followed.

Then, around Easter of 2010, we had the idea of recreating the original story. We weren’t interested for a “remake”, what we had in mind was a reimagining of the setting and its characters. A “reboot” would probably be more appropriate. So, Ultimate Dawn was created and the game was launched on July 5th 2010.

Ultimate Dawn is to the Original Dawn what Batman Begins is to Batman: The Movie. And this site is meant to be the log of our ongoing campaign.

We play using the 4th edition of the Dungeons & Dragons game (no, we’re not dungeon crawlers; we just like the new rules-system).

The centerpiece of this blog is The Chronicle; it is the campaign log—all other entries are meant to assist both us as players and people looking in from the outside to better understand the ongoing story that takes place in this homebrew setting.

Ultimate Dawn is an epic heroic dark fantasy saga. It’s not a cold log, rather it’s mostly in-character and thus not boring to read (we hope).

So, if you enjoy reading the in-game stories of other people playing D&D then this place is for you. Enjoy.
