Her Well-Born, the Lady Sophia Renauld.
Lady Sophia is a famous playwright with an illustrious career brought to an early end by increasingly provocative works which were seen as heretical.
One of those works was a spicy story regarding the Ascended King’s supposedly hidden love life. In it, the King courts and engages in sexual relationships with many goddesses. On its surface, the play was made in a tongue-in-cheek manner, but underneath its glossy surface it presented several heretical concepts, including an affair between the king and the dark goddess Sis. This was enough to sideline the playwright but the true affront came with her next story.
Entitled “Kharkhosa”, this little-known work (details unknown) was immediately banned and designated as heretical. Normally, the Judges would have Sophia’s head, but the latter had an extreme amount of supporters within the court. The Ascended King likely considered too fussy to kill her, and placed her under house arrest instead.
The Lady Sophia’s manor is situated about a day’s travel south-east of Black Tower but she is not there at the moment. Her servant indicated that she might be in Black Tower.
With Adrion Von Montarious, Orecious Loreweaver, and Vass Jaquel Draracle comparing notes, they came to the realization that Kharkhosa, the Blood Moon, Helgore, and Lady Sophia (who, according to her servant, had spoken of Helgore) are all connected. The theory formulated for the time being involves Sophia being a Devout Cultist who performed a dark ritual under everyone’s noses in Black Tower, instigating—or helping to instigate—the Blood Moon phenomenon during the Triple Eclipse.
