Greyguards

Slang for Unaligned Paladins. The term comes from the Gray Guards; a specific paragon path of (usually good) paladins that take extreme measures to vanquish evil even if it means breaking the law or performing less than savory tactics such as torturing a prisoner to obtain information.

In the Dawn-universe, the Gray Guards (who may also be of good alignments) represent a particular movement within the ranks of paladins who believe that in order to promote the greater good, they cannot afford to play by the book. Adherents of this philosophy do not necesserily have access to the aforementioned path; the path merely serves as a mechanical implementation for those who have trained themselves to operate under this particular, morally-loose, code of conduct.
