Creature Type

Used widely by scholars to classify the exact nature of a given creature with a single word. The types are: Animate (for constructs, or animated objects), Beast (for non-sentient animals), Humanoid (for sentient creatures that conform to the standards of human-like physiology no matter how superficial the similarities may be), and Magical Beast (for any creature with non-humanoid physiology that is either sentient or possesses extraordinary powers—often both).
